How to get your pictures and cartoon in!

Here’s what I found out.

In experimenting with the test paper on the Netherlands (Sterling Wilson’s) I found that when you register you get up to 50 MB of storage free. You can upload your pictures and cartoons. Here’s how.

Log in and edit your post with the paper in it.

At the bottom of the screen there is a blue line which says ‘Upload Browse all Videos Slideshows’

Upload Screen

Select Upload. You will be prompted to browse for your file on your computer. Find it, and put in a title. You don’t need a description unless you want. then click Upload. After it has finished, you will see the display below.

Browse and Enter

Position your cursor in the edit panel where you want the picture. If your picture has a placeholder in there just select it. then come back down here, and choose ‘full size’ and ‘file’, then click ‘send to editor’.

Your picture should then appear in the document where you want it.

How to create a post!

Hope this helps.

  • Go to the blog http://richistan.wordpress.com/
  • Select login from the sidebar on the right, under ‘Meta’.
  • Login using your username and your password.
  • You should see at the top a blue bar and the third thing in it is ‘New Post’
  • Click it and you will see the post screen.
  • Fill in the post title <countryname> – Draft
  • Open your word document. Use control-a to select the whole thing, and control-c to copy everything.
  • Move back to the post webpage and into the text box PASTE using control-v.
  • In a bit the screen should refresh and you should see the paper in there.
  • Then you can save it and edit it. But at the end you should click the button that says ‘Save for Review’ or ‘Publish’ (whichever you see).
  • After a bit the screen will refresh blank, and you can click the little <view post> at the top to see what’s out there.

GDP Paper FAQ

From Andrew Eldred: Dr. Hartman, when again do you want the draft of the paper due? and do we turn in the 3 peer reviews that same day?

It is a good question, and I am going to also post this answer on the blog. Thanks for asking.

The draft is due by email to me at bruce@ahartman.net by midnight 11/14/2007 (Wednesday).

You will register at http://wordpress.com/ following the instructions on the email I had them send you. You should get it in the next day or so if you have not already. You do not need to create a blog, just an account. You can edit your profile if you wish.

Once you are successful at registering, go to http://richistan.wordpress.com/ and log in. At the top you should see a blue bar with ‘New Post’ on it. Create a new post with title <country> – Draft. Then try to upload your paper to it. Be sure to save the post for Review. Put it in the category ‘GDP – Drafts’. When I see it I will publish it, and everyone will be able to see it.

Then ask 3 persons in one of the two classes of ECO100 to read it and make their comments on the same site by putting them in on your post.

This might take a couple of weeks, till after Thanksgiving anyway.

Once you have the three comments, you can make modifications to your paper.

We will agree on a final due date, something like December 5.

You will submit your final version by email to me, and you will also post it as a NEW POST with title <country> – Final. Put it in the category ‘Final’.

Those are the instructions.

Here’s what we’re doing!

This blog is for students in macroeconomics at CSU Maritime University. They will use it this fall to submit some project assignments. It’s private, so only the class may see it.

  1. You’ll write a paper on the GDP of your chosen country, and solicit a minimum of three (3) comments or reviews. You may then edit your paper to improve it and repost it (not overwrite the old post!). The final results should be much improved.
  2. Your team will prepare a study of the CPI among students of our college. You will as a team prepare a paper, and at the end your team will post a final presentation in ppt format, and have a chance to give it in class.
